I have been replaying San Andreas, though. Still really fun. :D
So, Electronic Arts. One of the biggest game publishers out there. Responsible for bringing us some really good games back in the 90’s and early 2000’s, like the original Command & Conquer: Red Alert, The Sims, SimCity 3000 Unlimited, the Need For Speed games, Moto Racer, and revitalized Burnout after Activision dumped it to the wayside.
Then they turned to shit.
There hasn’t been a new Burnout game ever since EA put Criterion on Need For Speed. Hell, Criterion is barely the game company it was when it made Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012! The Sims 4 and NHL 15, both sequels to hit games, LOST FEATURES WHEN GOING TO THE SEQUEL.
I mean, how do you fuck up a sequel to ANYTHING, let alone an NHL game?! I really don’t understand why you would REMOVE stuff that the fans actually liked? I mean, Duke Nukem Forever had its fucking flaws, but it was still a Duke Nukem 3D sequel that added things! How do you fuck up a sports game sequel so badly that “It’s the same as last year’s game” DOESN’T APPLY?!
Don’t even get me fucking started on the Sims 4. Yeah, I know, we got the whole “You can’t expect everything from the Sims 3 to be in the base game for Sims 4” spiel that we fucking got when we went from Sims 2 to Sims 3. But here’s the thing… IF EVERY GAME FROM SIMS FUCKING ONE HAD THE ABILITY FOR POOLS AND EVERY GAME FROM SIMS FUCKING TWO COULD HAVE TODDLERS AND BABIES THAT WEREN’T FUCKING OBJECTS, WHY THE FUCK CAN’T SIMS 4 HAVE IT? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!
Is it because of deadlines that the fucking shareholders put in? Fuck the shareholders! They don’t know how to make a fucking video game! Hell, fuck deadlines!
Rockstar has NEVER had that fucking problem as far as I know, and you know why? They give their teams time to actually complete the game to make sure all the game-breaking bugs are out. If they need more time, guess what? They get that time! Same with Valve, Blizzard, Devolver Digital, and others I can’t think of right now. I’d rather have a pushed-back release date for a really good game than a rushed shitty game.
Now Activision had fucked over Brütal Legend for a bit before losing it to EA, and Tim Schafer thought that EA was a safe haven. Until they decided to intentionally market it as a single-player action-adventure game instead of the multiplayer real-time strategy game it actually is. And forced Double Fine to keep quiet about it. Schafer, for his credit, tried to get the word out about this, but the EA Hype Machine™ practically drowned him out and released a single-player demo. Even though the reception was positive, EA was disappointed by the sales, 1.4 million in a year and a third. They refused to release a patch for the PS3 version that was highly-requested by the fans, even though Double Fine fucking completed it, cancelled the sequel, and made Schafer take the blame for the misaimed marketing. This move practically almost put Double Fine OUT OF BUSINESS. No wonder we PC fans had to wait 4 years for the PC version. Double Fine had to wait until EA dropped the publishing rights. (You can thank TVTropes for pointing this out for me. I tried to reword it best I could, but credit there goes to them.)
And you wonder why I hate EA. Shit like that. EA’s learning from their mistakes, I will give you that. But they shouldn’t drag well known properties through the mud to make those damn mistakes. I still haven’t forgiven them for SimCity 5 or Dungeon Keeper Mobile, and if it keeps going the way it is, I never fucking will.
Next week will be Origin versus Steam, GOG, the Humble Store, and other digital distributors.
Check it out! I’m not the only one recommending games. Anyone who’s a moderator or higher has the power. :3
Nuked the inbox. Again.
Think I’m going to make the Serious 30 HARDER now. Good luck getting an A+ now!
The full curator thing is not up yet, but the group is up for SRTTNGE. :D
I’ll get the announcement out of the way first:
Serious Rainbow’s Tumblrpon Thursday Night Gaming Extravaganza will be making a return with an EARLIER start time. I’ll announce when exactly later, but the first game will be Quake Live as it’s on Steam now.
That, and I’m planning to do that Steam Curator thing. :D
Anyway, here’s the thing: we really haven’t used the Rainbow Dashpad group on Steam in a very long time. So, here’s the question for you:
Would it be better to create a new Steam group for both of those ideas, just one of those or not bother and use the Dashpad group (which I am UNABLE to rename)?
Lemme know, eh?
Don’t. Touch. The Hat.
I’m hoping for the best myself.
PD: I think your pirate accent is worst than mine…
SR: Now, listen here, ye Nate Dogg…
PD: THAT’S A RAPPER!
Arrrrr it be Talk Like A Pirate day. I couldn’t resist poking fun at me pirate sis.
No. You’re not.
Granted, I’m pissed off at Nintendo for making Achievement Hunter cut the DK Rap out of their Mario Kart 8 video. That was one of the funniest bits of the video!
Hope you enjoy this new segment we’re doing. :3 Next week won’t be as nice though, as we’ll be digging into why EA sucks monkey dong… for the 37th time. XD But actually look into it seriously, not just “OMG, EA sucks.”
The Humble Bundle store currently has the 9 YDKJ bundle on sale for 4 bucks. I’m guessing you already have them, but your followers might not (I didn’t, and I got the bundle solely off of your recommendation), so I thought I should let you know in case you want to pass the information on. https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/youdontknowjack_bundle_storefront
OH MY GOD. YOU GUYS. GO GET THIS.
